Your Fear Is Killing You, Your Dreams, Your Relationships, Your Career!
Your Fear Is Stopping You From Being Happy & Successful
Don’t Be A Coward! Ain’t Nobody Got Time For That!

One Thing To Stop or Start
STOP Being a COWARD! I had a wonderful conversation with an amazingly talented woman yesterday. She was one of the winners of last week’s Freebie of the Week, which was one hour of life coaching with me. Anywho… As I spoke with her about reaching her goals, it was abundantly clear that she was afraid to fully pursue her opportunities. Why was she afraid? Honestly, there was no real reason. But her fear-based thinking had become a mental habit to the point where she might as well have had a real, tangible reason to be fearful. As she answered my questions, I understood one thing clearly. That being, she was a coward, when it came to doing what it takes to go after her goals. So, I yelled (yes, I did) into the phone, “You’re a coward!” She was gracious and did not hang up on me. 😉 We had a great talk. She has all the skills she needs. She will reach her goals with the right reframing, planning, execution, and accountability.
She is not unique in her relationship with fear. Many folks are better friends with their fears than they are committed to their goals & happiness. Some fear not being part of the in-crowd. Some fear becoming poor. Some fear failure. Some fear success. Some fear being rejected. Here’s the truth:
- You will never be truly happy or successful as long as fear is your best friend.
- You will never be your best self… you will never live your best life – – as long as you live in fear. As long as you are a coward, true fulfillment will elude you.
- When you are driven by your cowardice, you will make decisions that lead to your demise.
- Cowardice is a choice. So is bravery. As long as you’re breathing, be brave.
Before Your Head Hits The Pillow Tonight
What are 10 things on your bucket-list? Before your head hits the pillow tonight, decide what you will do over the next 3 days to check-off at least one of those 10 things, in whole or part.
A Book I’m Reading
Not a book this time. A poem. I have re-read “Invictus.”(Invictus is Latin for Unconquered.) This poem was written by a young William Ernest Henley as he sought to recover from multiple surgeries on his right leg. (He had previously had his left leg amputated due to tuberculosis.) Here it is:
“Out of the night that covers me, Black as the pit from pole to pole, I thank whatever gods may be, For my unconquerable soul. In the fell clutch of circumstance, I have not winced nor cried aloud. Under the bludgeonings of chance, My head is bloody, but unbowed. Beyond this place of wrath and tears, Looms but the Horror of the shade, And yet the menace of the years, Finds, and shall find, me unafraid. It matters not how strait the gate, How charged with punishments the scroll, I am the master of my fate: I am the captain of my soul.”
A Quote I’m Embracing
“I am the master of my fate: I am the captain of my soul.” What does it mean for you? Join me. Together, we win.
A Worldview I’m Challenging
There is too much “worrying” out there swirling around. Worry – especially about things you cannot control – is a waste. I say we all should replace “worry” with “get to work.” Seek to fill your time with so much work in pursuit of worthy goals that you don’t leave yourself time to worry. Live to your goals. Love to your dreams. Do the work.
Something to Sing
I often play this song on the way to work. By the time I get there, this song has me so fired up that I can’t help but get off to a great start. The song, “I Go To Work.” The lyrics are genius.
